this means everything, it means 30 years hard graft for everybody. To win a Guineas was always my number one and hopefully it’s the first of many. I’m delighted with the support we are getting from owners and the quality has increased year on year. That was hard work and full credit to Colin Keane. He was out there on his own today against a football team and him and the horse got it right. The horse is a legend and bailed him out. You don’t get a Guineas handed to you and they both stood up when it was needed. If there was a kink in that horse then he wasn’t going to go through that gap. Colin is the best there is at the minute. He’s only a kid and he’s going to keep improving. I also want to thank Khalid Abdullah who is watching in Paris I’m sure. They are the ultimate breeders. I was worried about this horse’s trip around February and March but when we went into lockdown then I was confident that the trip wasn’t an issue. If we were a sprinter then we were in trouble because we weren’t quick enough. He’s a very easy horse to train and no question he’s the best I’ve trained. We’ll probably go to Goodwood next for the Sussex but I want to keep Colin on him and hopefully the 14 days (quarantine) will be gone by then. We are definitely skipping Ascot. We’ll have a chat about it but that was the plan providing he was good enough today.

My confidence was shot all week with the rain purely because we knew he was better on a faster gallop. His forte is that burst of speed that he still showed there. I think he’s a very smart horse. Talk of Guineas at this stage is very premature as we are racing over six furlongs in August. Today was to tell us do we step up to seven for the Dewhurst or the National Stakes or do we go Middle Park route. Did we learn anything trip wise? I don’t know. I just learned that this is one good, tough horse. We’ll get together and make a plan with him. I’m delighted to be training for Prince Khalid, and as I’ve said we can’t train Group 1 horses unless we get Group 1 horses. Thankfully in my second season training for this operation I’m after getting a Group 1 horse. What a horse to have — he’s so push button. I was worrying all week listening to every drop of rain falling but the horse just got on and did his job.

First and foremost it's a huge result to be training for these people in the first place. To get a good one so early in our career with them is a bonus. Credit to them because they let me do what I wanted to do with him. I didn't want to go to Ascot, I could have been rushed into that, but they let me do what I wanted. I'm just one of those lucky lads because things are falling together for us. We have the best jockey in the country riding for us and Juddmonte are on the team now. Even if they try not to give me a good horse I'm going to get a good horse!. My job is to just use the experience we've had in 20 years looking for these horses. We should know what we're doing at this stage and it's nice to have one.

our initial plan is to stay here for the Railway Stakes but I’ll have to talk it over with the owners. The important thing with him is to try and aim at a Group 1 and not leave it in Ascot. My plan would be to stay at home and hopefully have a Phoenix horse.
