Maybe he wanted better ground and I took him out of Galway because the ground went against him. Hopefully we will find something at Listowel for him now and I think he will stay further. He got a very good ride.

That is small compensation for losing Corbally Cross earlier (was put down after breaking his leg). The better ground suited him today and he may stay in training now and get an entry in the Galway Plate.

I was delighted with his jumping today as opposed to being horrified at Christmas! . He had it all to do today . the first two horses are both good horses. I wanted to get his jumping right today and get that win out of the way. That's mission accomplished now and we'll probably go for a winners' race somewhere now.

I am pleased and relieved after that! Andrew felt he wasn't suited by making his own running but that was just the way things worked out. Hopefully he'll prove good enough to go to Cheltenham for something but I'll talk with JP (McManus, owner) and decide plans. He'll have one more run before Cheltenham anyway.

We're very lucky they didn't race at Naas last week. This horse had a rest and was supposed to start back on January 1st which became the 17th because of the weather,. Last week would have been too soon for him. We got a gallop into him last Saturday instead and that helped for today. Hopefully he comes on for it. If the owners wishes to go he'll travel (to Cheltenham). I think he's a horse that has improved quite a bit and hopefully he improves a bit more.

It's a relief to get him on the track as he was an expensive store,. I hope very much he can build on that. Where he goes next I don't know but he would be better on better ground. I'd like to think he'll go forward and he could develop into a nice horse some day.
