He did no more than he should have done. Mikey said he jumped well and, unless a race comes up over fences that he's well in, he won't run over fences. Mikey has ridden winners for us in the past as an amateur, and has been riding out most mornings.

He's getting his confidence back, and the conditions of the race suited him well. He's in the Champion Hurdle and the Stayers Hurdle and there's not alot for him between now and then.

We'll probably have to go up in grade after that. It's unlikely we'll find another opportunity like that. It has been a chance to get his confidence back and hopefully he will keep improving . He got a bit lazy when he hit the front.

His inexperience came against him at the last where he just stumbled on landing after jumping well. Hopefully he'll learn from it and that it won't effect his confidence. That's novice chasing.

Cousin Vinny had been working out of his skin at home this week and he ran the race of his life to finish 2nd and it just goes to show you how good Mikael D'Haguenet is. Mikael came out of his race at Cheltenham very well, he has size and he has scope and he'll go chasing next season actually both horses will go chasing next season I don't see a future for them over hurdles. Mikael D'Haguenet will be put away now and Cousin Vinny may go for another race if we can find a suitable conditions hurdle race for him.

We decided to change tactics today as we thought there wouldn't be enough pace. His knee action was very evident today and once again would have concerns if the ground got lively at Cheltenham, if he is go there he will not have another run. Going to France is definitely on the cards and I would have no fear about bringing him back here for the Festival.

I'm delighted with how he jumped and quickened when he had to. I'm very pleased and have no real plans for him. If I can find a nice race for him in February I'll run him but I'm very lucky to have a few nice horses and I don't want them to clash just yet. The Deloitte And Touche Novice Hurdle Grade 1 is an obvious choice for him but I also have to consider Hurricane Fly for that. As regards Cheltenham if the ground comes up quick we probably won't bring him.

We came here today to see how good the horse was and that was something else. That was a huge performance by the horse. He likes this type of ground and we've no worries about him over a trip. We will enter him for Cheltenham next but with such a big horse i'd worry about the speed coming down the hill. We might go for The Slaney Hurdle at Naas with him next. Paul [Townend] gave him a copybook ride, he did everything he was told to do.

He is a good recruit and I'm delighted with that. We thought about going chasing with the horse but he showed so much at home that we decided to give hurdling a go. He'll stay further, I have no worries about trip, he's bred to stay and he'll go for a novice hurdle now. (EM)
