He got fired out a bit there in the straight and had to switch back in. I thought it was gone on him then but fair play to Gary, he gave him a great ride. We were lucky then that the line came in time. He is entered in Doncaster Sales which are on November 4th and 5th although we are getting a bit fond of him now. He'll run again before then as he is fit and well and he has his ground.

He loves the ground, it makes all the difference to him. He likes a bit of cover too which he didn't get last time at the Curragh. Gary gave him a great ride. He'll go to Gowran (next Saturday) for a mile handicap. He'll go to the Horses In Training Sale then and he'll make someone a nice hurdler as he jumps well.

Hawkhill won a maiden well here this time last year but things went wrong after that. He was probably a bit weaker than I thought he actually was but the winter break has done him good and he has come back stronger now. He loves that yielding ground and is big enough to go hurdling later on.

He ran well at The Curragh and has come on nicely from the run. The ground was a big help to us today and he should improve again from the run. We'll see what the handicapper does with him now.
