Sat 08th Feb
He stayed at it well. He looked beat going to the last, but kept at it well. He's won over 2m6f and three miles, and he saw it out well. From being a frustrating horse he's now won four. He had a good pilot on board.

he's a lucky old horse but he's a bit of a toe-rag. I'd say he was beaten as the horse (Bonnie Kellie) looked to be cantering alongside him. He (Harvey) said he wasn't doing a stroke and when the horse disappeared he nearly pulled himself up. He's after winning three now though and he is out of a good mare (Summer Star) who Katie used to ride and she won four times on.

Derek O’Connor is in a league of his own - I’m 73 and there has never been a better amateur in my lifetime. This horse got a great ride from Mikey O’Sullivan to win at Kilbeggan but as amateurs go, and I remember Conny Vaughan, Billy McLernon, Francis Flood and lads from my era and right though to now, there has never been a better amateur over fences than Derek O’Connor. I don’t remember Bunny Cox who was supposed to be brilliant and Philip Fenton was another brilliant amateur and Jamie Codd.
