Review laytown 5th Sep
Championship chasing jockey Colin Keane received a boost in his quest to land the honour for the first time with a double at the popular annual meeting on Laytown's beach.
His first success was a family affair for father Gerard, with Red All Star (9-2) battling hard to see off the fast-finishing duo Boxer Dunford and Free To Roam by a neck and a head in the Follow @TheMelbourne10 On Facebook Handicap.
He completed a quick double when Silk Cravat (13-8f) landed the following Gilna's Cottage Inn Maiden. Ger Lyons' gelding was always to the fore, coming clear two furlongs out, and battled bravely to see off English raider Haraz by half a length to get off the mark at the eleventh time of asking.
Lambourn handler Jamie Osborne has long supported this meeting and was rewarded for his travels when Monteverdi landed the concluding Hibernia Steel (Q.R.) Race by three lengths in comfortable fashion. The 7-4 favourite scored under Kate Harrington to give his handler a second successive win in this race after Room Key also justified favouritism last year.< Coreczka finished well to floor last year's winner My Good Brother in the opening At The Races Handicap.
The 10-1 shot appeared to be in trouble when My Good Brother moved up menacingly to take things up at halfway, but Oisin Orr's mount found a second wind and had three-quarters of a length in hand at the finish.
The Scotch Hall Shopping Centre Claiming Race went the way of 3-1 favourite Tom Dooley for Richard O'Brien and Billy Lee. The son of Dylan Thomas came with a powerful late surge to beat Arlecchino's Rock by three and three-quarter lengths.< Rivellino and Seanie produced a pulsating finish to the O'Neills Sports (Q.R.) Handicap with the former battling back up by a head at 11-2 for Adrian McGuinness and Lisa O'Neill .
