Edward Lynam's Pearl Of Africa opened her account at the sixth time of asking at Dundalk.
Placed once from four starts in her juvenile season, the daughter of Jeremy had made a pleasing start to her 2013 campaign when second at the same track late last month, and she went one better in decent style.
Burried towards the rear in the early stages of the one-mile Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden, Fran Berry switched her out wide to lay down a challenge on market leader Harpist
Once in the clear, Pearl Of Africa showed a brisk turn of foot and kept on well to win by a comfortable half length.
There was a horrible incident as Toberton clipped heels and slipped up, sending Luke Dempsey crashing in the closing stages of the Hen & Stag Packages At Dundalk Stadium Handicap.
The front-running Toberton, trained by Ted Walsh, looked to have been mastered by Lynam's Sylvan Mist at the time and the latter was left to coast home by five lengths under Fergal Lynch.
Dempsey was stretchered to hosipital and Toberton sadly had to be put down.< Our Manekineko landed some hefty bets in the Dundalk Stadium Handicap.
It was a heart in mouth moment for supporters of the 11-10 favourite as Pat Smullen had to sit and suffer behind a wall of horses passing the furlong marker.
But Smullen negotiated some space for the James Nash-trained gelding and he duly capitalised, forging between runners in the closing stages to beat Conversational by three parts of a length, with Maudlin Magdalen in third.
The www.dundalk.com Handicap went to Raydari (5-1), who saw off Paddy The Celeb by half a length in the hands of 3lb claimer Sam James.
