Review curragh 5th Apr
The reapplication of blinkers did the trick for Mad About You who left her comeback defeat well behind in the Group Three Bruce Betting Newbridge Gladness Stakes.
Last year's Irish 1000 Guineas runner-up was a costly failure on her return, but she travelled much more sweetly here and took it up from the front-running Jumbajukiba a quarter of a mile from the finish.
Pat Smullen then only had to keep her up to her work to fend off the determined challenge of Dohasa by two and a half lengths as the 9-4 favourite.
The Jim Bolger string have flown out of the blocks this season and a treble for the trainer was capped by the victory of Vocalised in the Listed Newbridge Credit Union Loughbrown Stakes.
The 5-4 favourite was always travelling well within himself at the head of affairs and given the office by Kevin Manning at the two-furlong pole, quickened like a smart colt to beat Ohiyesa by a length and three-quarters.
Bolger and Manning initiated their three-timer when Eireannach (5-1) proved too strong in the Donovan Printing EBF Maiden. The juvenile finished one place behind Xtraxtra at the Curragh two weeks ago but was always prominent here and held that rival at bay by a neck.< Fergus McIver (9-1) completed the excellent day for Bolger and Manning in the P.G.Duffy & Sons Citreon EBF Maiden.< Baron De'l had fitness on his side from a spell jumping and capitalised in the BAM Contractors Alleged Stakes.
Market leader Poet led the field but the challengers were queueing up and Eddie Harty's 12-1 shot finished to best effect to land a neck verdict.< Opera Music (16-1) arrived in the shadows of the post to deny Daffodil Walk in the Four Star Keadeen Hotel Handicap, while 11-1 chance Dilshaan's Prize had stablemate Harchibald back in seventh when overcoming an absence in the Cosgroves Pharmacy Ltd. Handicap.
