After winning the feature on Le Martalin Sean Flanagan doubled-up on Double Windsor in the Michael Moore Mercedes-Benz & Volkswagen, Portarlington & Athlone Handicap Chase.
Successful at Clonmel last month, the David O'Brien trained six-year-old went up just five pounds for that win, and was sent off an easy to back 7/1 chance (from 5s) this evening.
Settled in rear, the son of Windsor Knot made progress from four out, and came with his challenge on the outer as they entered the straight.
He got to the front before the second last, and was ridden out from there to see off the challenge of the eleven-year-old Shake The Bucket (12/1) by half a length. Island Master (10/1) was another nine and a half lengths back in third, while the 7/2 favourite Better B Quick could only manage seventh.
O'Brien said afterwards: "These blinkers seem to have transformed him. I'm just thrilled with him. The owners have three and the three of them are running today.
"Icelip ran up to his form and they picked up E1,500 for it. They bought this fellow when the other owners were getting out of him. They are a great bunch of people and I’m delighted for them.
"He travelled so well today, lined-up and done everything right. Dropping him in with a fast pace, he seems to love passing horses.
"We’ll enjoy today and see what is coming up. The fresher he is, the better he is, so we will try that trick with him."
