Moyglare Stud Farm's Rock Sound (5/4 favourite) made a winning start for Dermot Weld and Declan McDonogh in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C & G) Maiden at Limerick.
Rock Sound tracked the leaders through this seven furlong event and he was pushed along and made headway on the inner to lead a furlong out.
From there the gelded son of Lope De Vega kept on well to defeat the Andy Slattery outsider Kudbegood (66/1 chance, had to switch about to get a run) by three parts of a length.
"He's a nice horse, has been working consistently well and got through the ground well," reported McDonogh.
"He picked up well and hopefully will improve for it. We were going steady and he settled and Billy (Lee, on third-placed Case Stated was hanging out in the straight and I was able to take a run down there.
"In fairness to him he got on about his business and put the race to bed."
W.J. Lee, rider of Case Stated trained by W. McCreery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung from the left off the hill into the straight.
