The Remembering John Kierans Rated Race saw Dermot Weld and Colin Keane complete a Listowel double. Juddmonte’s Probe did the business for them in the seven furlong heat.
Shadwell’s Tashgheel set the ball rolling for Rosewell House and the champion jockey earlier, and Probe followed up another County Kerry win, achieved at Killarney 25 days back.
The son of Kingman was eased close home when scoring by seven lengths in his maiden, and though this wasn’t as comprehensive Probe was good in accounting for decent rivals.
Ballydoyle’s 86-rated performer San Martino did best of the rest but Probe proved two lengths his superior.
That was after barging his way out off the elbow in the straight, bumping The Blue Panther (eventually 4th) and Gary Carroll out into the centre of the track.
“He’s progressing and the step up to a mile suited him at Killarney the last day. He’s sharpened up since and was man enough when we needed him to get out,” said Keane.
“He handles that ease in the ground well and he could even get up to a mile and a quarter in time.”
