Weld & Smullen gain their reward
After hitting the crossbar with second placings in the first two races (Lake Worth and Anaverna Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen got on the score-sheet with the well backed Legendary Lad (9/2 in the morning into 6/4) in the Ballyclough (C & G) Maiden at Cork.
The first-time blinkered son of Dubawi made virtually all and he kicked on from the quarter mile pole to see off Farandooney by three and a half lengths.
Kris Weld said: "It's always nice to have a winner at Cork's Easter meeting. He did it well and liked the ground. He'll go for a handicap now."
