Beau Warrior made it four in a row at Dundalk this evening when returning from a break to land the featured Racing Post Race, giving trainer Ado McGuinness a terrific treble on the night.
The Declaration Of War filly had been in flying form here before the turn of the year and looked better than ever after a 91-day break.
Ronan Whelan took the mount for the first time and settled his mount behind the leaders in the six-furlong conditions event.
He asked her to take closer order a furlong-and-a-half out and she found another gear inside the final furlong. Empire Line put up a game effort in front but couldn't hold the late charge of Beau Warrior as she got up close home for a three-parts-of-a-length win.
McGuinness said:- “I think she’s a very good filly. I thought she would have won her maiden but she had a mad growing spurt and was immature.
“We’ll mind her now and try and get her some black type. There are fillies races at Cork and Navan that she could go for.
“She’s progressing all the time, and a stiff six or seven furlongs is what she wants. It’s great for the lads (Total Recall Racing Club) who have been very lucky with me and long may it last.
“It’s the best winter we’ve ever had here.”
McGuinness has now had 15 winners at Dundalk this winter season which leaves him joint second with Michael Halford. Joseph O'Brien leads on 23.
