Buachaillbocht bounced back from a below-par effort in Tramore to win win in Punchestown.
The 6/4 favourite was strong in the market and travelled smoothly with a narrow lead entering the straight. He was joined and strongly pressed by No Fussing on the run-in but found more for Mark Walsh to win by half a length close home.
No Fussing had to settle for second at 7/2 and was five lengths clear of Lough Nigara (18/1).
This brought up a double on the card for Mark Walsh who was earlier successful on Gordon Elliott's Slanagaibhgoleir
Trainer Ted Walsh said: “He was better today than he was in Tramore which might have been a bit tight for him. There was atrocious ground in Tramore too and he just didn’t travel.
“He travelled well today and stayed it out well. He’s only a six-year-old and is improving.
“He’s a fine, big scopey horse and should jump a fence.”
