Jim Bolger's Vocaliser (7/2) came out on top under Ronan Whelan (first winner at the venue) in the opening Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden at Roscommon.
On start number three, the 7/2 shot overcame the fact that he wandered under pressure in the final furlong and eventually prevailed by a length and a half from the well-backed Weld representative, Intransive (5/1 into 3/1).
Stable spokesman Ger Flynn disclosed: "That's a second winner for Vocalised (stands at Bolger's Redmonstown Stud).
"He had a good run the last day, he is a nice horse and he did it well. He has a good attitude.
"Ronan said he still showed signs of greenness and he just veered left towards the line."
The Stewards enquired into an incident before the turn into the straight involving Family Pride ridden by R.P.Cleary, unplaced, No Way Jack ridden by N.G. McCullagh, unplaced, Qat Flyer ridden by W.J. Lee, unplaced, Smuggler's Cove ridden by J.P. O'Brien, placed fifth and Winsor Royal ridden by L.F. Roche, unplaced, where it appeared that Winsor Royal had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was as a result of general bunching and took no further action.
