- Victoria another for Bowe & Bon
Victoria another for Bowe & Bon
Colin Bowe can do little wrong at present and his well-bred mare Our Victoria came out best in a driving finish to the Thoroughbred County Mares Flat Race under Barry 'Bon' O'Neill at Punchestown.
The winner was runner-up in a point-to-point at Castletown-Geoghegan just ten days ago and that fitness and experience helped her to see off the newcomer Catcherinscratcher by the minimum margin. The runner-up had looked a likely winner when cruising up to deliver her challenge but in the end she came up just short.
Bowe, fresh from doubles on both point-to-point days last weekend, said: "She is a three parts sister to Our Vic and she'll go three mile hurdling now. She has won two point-to-points and she is a nice mare to look forward to."
Winning owner Richie Furlong is from Adamstown in County Wexford.
Meanwhile Princess Gaia a full-sister to Voler La Vedette and a gamble here, was pulled-up at halfway and she was later found to be clinically abnormal.
