Very Smart served up a 25/1 surprise in the Magners Light Handicap over seven furlongs in Down Royal.
The three-year-old filly swooped with a devastating late run to get up close home by a neck with Killian Leonard in the saddle.
She foiled a major plunge on Caesar's Comet (5/1 to 9/4f) who had to settle for second. Secret Memories was half a length further back in third at 15/2.
Trainer Pat Martin said: "Ross Coakley, who rode her in Fairyhouse, said to maybe stick a hood on her so I half owe this one to him.
"She didn't travel today either. She's never been free as such but she has been hard on herself. She's a half sister to Aspen Belle who was notoriously hot and she's getting more like her sister that way, she's getting hotter!
"We'll see how we go, we'll skip Galway!"
