Pepsiwithacap (14/1) made a winning all-weather debut today, landing Dundalk's DundalkStadium.com Nursery for this year's Royal Ascot winners trainer Gavin Cromwell and jockey Gary Carroll.
Pepsiwithacap was struggling in the juvenile division at the same time Cromwell and Carroll won June's Queen Mary Stakes with Quick Suzy but today the daughter of Dawn Approach scored at the seventh attempt, beating runner-up Satin Snake by three parts of a length.
Jockey Carroll later reported “it was her first time on the all-weather and she loved it. She travelled nicely. I thought they went a nice gallop and she picked up well.
“She had a good look when she got there. She’s still green so hopefully she will improve again.
“She’d been running on slow ground and she always promised more than she delivered. I think the surface really helped her today.”
