Smullen doubles up at Ballinrobe
Jockey Pat Smullen completed a quick double when Snap Alam came home in front of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Race for trainer Joanna Morgan.
Smullen produced the 7/4 shot with a well timed run to lead inside the final furlong.
The pair kept on well on the run-in to hold off the 4/5 favourite Knight Eagle by a neck.
Winning trainer Morgan said afterwards: “The horse is owned by the local pharmacist in Ballivor John Farrell.”
“We decided to give her a break after her last run. I noticed this race here so I only got her back on Friday from John and the break did her well.”
“I can’t explain it but all my horses run well here, it’s a very lucky track for me. I wish they had more meetings here.”
Smullen was on the mark in the previous race when De Senectute ran out an impressive winner of the Coleman Quarries Handicap.
