- Shanahan records Curragh treble on Girouette
Shanahan records Curragh treble on Girouette
Pat Shanahan moved to the five winner mark for the season when recording a remarkable 150/1 treble in the opening three races at The Curragh today, completing the hat-trick on Girouette in the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Sweet Mimosa Stakes.
The daughter of Pivotal raced prominently before moving through to lead over two furlong out, eventually winning by a length and three parts over Perfect Polly
The win was also completing a double for Shanahan's employer Tracey Collins who subsequently reported “Girouette deserved that win, having been knocking on the door recently. Pat (Shanahan) gave her a super ride and I'm delighted for my owners as they have been patient with us while my yard had been enduring a quiet spell.”
She added “Girouette is a beautifully bred filly and, by gaining blacktype, she has now done her job. I knew she would love today's testing ground and once she could lie up in the early stages, she had her chance.”
