Seriatim got the last wrong but still won at Down Royal

With the favourite, Shinrock Paddy (pulled-up, clinically abnormal post-race) under-performing in a major way, the Bet with the Tote Beginners Chase at Down Royal was rendered a fairly open affair. Seriatim (6s this morning into 4s) may have made a mistake at the last but he was still good enough to see off Forty Foot Tom by a length and three parts.
Roy Wilson trains Seriatim for the Thunder & Lightning Syndicate and the now eight-year-old son of Oscar was ridden by Andrew Thornton.
Thornton said: "He jumped well but he got in a little tight at the last. He has ability as he's already won a hurdle and a couple of point-to-points.
"He's not the scopiest and he has his own way of doing things but it's working." (MG & EM)
