Champion Jockey Davy Russell bounced back from a few recent knocks to win the Sandyford Handicap Steeplechase at Leopardstown today on the Arthur Moore trained Treat Yourself
Russell's recent demotion as retained rider to Gigginstown House Stud was further frustrated by missing yesterday's racing through suspension along with, earlier today, seeing the Gigginstown owned Trifolium win the Arkle Chase under Bryan Cooper.
However the dual Champion Jockey returned to winning form when producing Treat Yourself to lead at the final fence for a comfortable nine lengths win over Golden Ticket
Afterwards Moore stated “he did it well and came on well from his last run. The better pace helped and he is progressing well and looks like he'll make a nice chaser.
“He'll have to step up in company now as he'll probably get a fair penalty for that. Hopefully he keeps going the right way and he could be a horse for the Dan Moore Chase (named in honour of Moore's late father) at Fairyhouse next year.”
