Quinns Red Rose bounced back to form to open her account in the mile maiden at Listowel this afternoon.
Michael O'Callaghan 's charge produced a disappointing show at Ballinrobe last month and the trainer revealed that she 'burst' on that occasion.
She was sent off a well backed 7/2 shot (from 6/1 in morning) today and bagged the lead from her low draw.
Leigh Roche sent her for home a furlong-and-a-half from home and she kept on gamely to record a neck win as Bright Eyed flashed home to press her close home.
Michael O’Callaghan, “She was second to Astronomer in Galway and he’s franked the form a lot since.
“Leigh said the ground wasn’t ideal but she got away with it. He gave her the right sort of ride and got a few lengths out of them turning in. He said she was just idling up the straight.
“I’m delighted to train a winner for the lads (Sapphire Bravo Syndicate) because there is a number of them over from America just for this. They didn’t come over for Galway but came over for Listowel.
“She’ll have another few runs before the year is out. She burst in Ballinrobe the last day.”
