Daniel Redmond showed strength beyond his years to get his first winner on the board as he forced top-weight Fiosrach up late to take the Tote Jackpot Handicap at Limerick.
Claiming ten off the handicap debutant who was lumbered with nine stone thirteen, Redmond switched out Fiosrach to deliver his bid from a furlong and a half out.
In the end the Bachelor Duke gelding touched off Eljowzah (had led from early in the final furlong) by half a length.
The lively one in the market, Landsdowne eventually went off the 9/2 favourite but finished nearer last than first.
Redmond is 18 and hails from Drimnagh in Dublin. He's four years under winning trainer Jim Bolger's tutelage.
The teenager explained: "I was beaten a short head on Morga once and that wasn't the only time I was beat in a tight finish.
"I took those on the chin though. I knuckled down and it's great to get the first winner.
"Mr Bolger is the nicest boss that you could have and it's all down to him." (TW & EM)
