Rebel strikes Gold for Foley

The Tom Foley-trained Rebel Gold got the better jump at the last to land the spoils in the Exhibit A Displays Handicap Hurdle at Punchestown. Winner Takes Itall was sent to post the 11/8 favourite in the two-miler and looked set to collect going to the last only to get the final flight wrong.
Paddy Kennedy soon drove Rebel Gold to the front and he stayed on well in the closing stages to post a two-length success over the market leader.
“The other horse was a bit slow at the last and that helped me. My lad hadn't run since Galway so it was a good performance as he needed the run,” said Kennedy.
“He'll be a nice horse for chasing. I'd say that could be his limit over hurdles now.
“I'd say more than likely his next run will be in a chase. He's a big horse and ran in point-to-points so I'd say that's his game.”
