Connections of The Getaway Star intend to keep the two-race unbeaten four year old to bumpers this season as the Declan Queally trained filly maintained her perfect record in the concluding Racing TV (Mares) Bumper at Cork today.
The daughter of Getaway was an impressive debut winner at Fairyhouse last April and today, again under jockey Eoin O'Brien, she battled well for a two and three parts of a length win over Getaway Gorgeous
Declan Queally junior, representing his father, later said “that's a relief because there was a lot of pressure coming into the race and I said beforehand she was only 80% ready and she looked a bit heavy in the parade ring.
“She will improve a lot from this and today was the prep race for a Listed bumper at Navan in three weeks time and the fact she has gone and won it is a bonus. She is a good mare.
“She is a brilliant jumper but she'll stay in bumpers this season and go hurdling next year.”
