The John Queally Memories Of Milan gained a long overdue win in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Cork today, providing a first win over hurdles for his 19 year old rider Ricky Doyle
The son of Milan was produced to lead after two out and stayed on well for a two and a half lengths win over Illtakeitfromhere The win was just Memories Of Milan's second career success, the first having been gained at Clonmel in April 2011.
Following the win, Queally revealed “I knew nothing about the jockey beforehand but Martin Brassil recommended him and you're always with them when they win!”
“Now that he (Memories Of Milan) has won, he might do so again having got his head in front. There's a three mile hurdle at Listowel for him next.”
The win was jockey RIcky Doyle's, who is based with trainer Martin Brassil, first over hurdles, having ridden five on the flat.
