Gordon Elliott has sports writers on alert having completed a Punchestown four-timer today, with Absolute Notions Goffs Land Rover Bumper success moving the trainer to within one of 2,000 winners.

The son of Milan was bought for €60,000 at the qualifying Goffs Sale last June and today collected €59,000 when scoring under a well-judged ride from jockey Declan Lavery.

Passing the line it was thought the win was Elliott's 2,000th, but in the winner's enclosure the trainer issued a correction, saying “I was never great at maths but the girls in the office rang me and said 'you still have two to go, don't be getting too excited'!”

Elliott, earlier successful with Party Central Grade 1 winner Mighty Potter and Felix Desjy added “we thought this (Absolute Notions) was a nice horse but he's a baby and nearly like a breaker to be honest.

“The few little bits he had done I had liked but I didn't think he had enough done to win. He's a nice horse for the future.”

Absolute Notions' 25/1 win was bringing up a 21,293/1 four-timer for Elliott.
