Prideofthecastle delights his trainer
Prideofthecastle (8/1) with a pulled up beside his name provided an upset in the closing bumper at Limerick.
He had gone off favourite for a point-to-point in May at Lisronagh so was obviously highly thought off and trainer Pat Cronin confirmed this. He said: “The jockey Damien Murphy and Pearse Gallagher who rides out for me think he’s as good a horse as they have ever ridden.
“He’s a half brother to a good horse in England called According To Dick. He’s a great lepper, but will probably go for a winners’ bumper.
“He’s a very good horse and I always said I’d keep a nice horse instead of selling him.
“I won this race 10 years ago with a horse Michael Hourigan trained called Its Echoes Sister.”
The winner showed a good turn of foot in the final furlong to put this race to bed. He won by four and a quarter lengths from Marley Exit (10/3) with 10/1 shot Third Chance in third. Our Cobajay went off the 8/11 favourite, but finished fourth.
