Pontiac makes his experience count

In ten previous efforts over fences the best Pontiac managed prior to today was a couple of third place finishes. The 116-rated performer didn't get a mention in Jessica Harrington's Irish Examiner column but that didn't stop Robbie Power from going out and making every post a winning one in the Bagenalstown Beginners Chase at Gowran.
In the aforementioned column, Mrs Harrington was bemoaning the fact that her Commonstown outfit had been having a lot of seconds lately but with Fairy Wing scoring at Dundalk last night, lady luck has obviously begun to smile on the Moone yard again. Here Pontiac stayed on well up the straight to see off Se Beag (20s this morning into 8s) by three and three parts of a length.
Mrs Harrington said after the success: "He was a handicapper in a beginners chase. I put blinkers back on him again today and he jumped brilliant the whole way.
"I'm delighted with him as today was his last chance." (DM & EM)
