The Dot Love trained Not A Bad Oul Day followed up a recent win at Gowran with a second at Sligo today, making most for a gutsy win in the www.countysligoraces.com Handicap.
Ridden by Leigh Roche, the son of Captain Rio led for much of the seven furlongs trip but was joined by eventual runner-up No Way Jack with a furlong to race. Not A Bad Oul Day did stay on better in the closing stages though for a neck win.
Ciaran Murphy, assistant trainer to Dot Love, later commented "we took a bit of a chance running him on quickish ground at Gowran last week, and Leigh said he handled it (heavy) well today.
"Pat (Smullen) said he was looking all around him at Gowran and felt he'd improve a lot for the experience, and that showed today. He came out of the race so well that we decided to come here. We won't run him again for a few weeks and freshen him up as he's had three quick runs."
