Eleven year old Cher Why Not defeated 16 rivals, some older, to win Fairyhouse's Tote Pays You More At Tote.ie Handicap Hurdle for trainer Tim Doyle and jockey Cian Quirke.
The 2m7f contest featured 15 year old Vodka Society and 16 year old Thekingofconnemara which both pulled up, and at the business end of the race Cher Why Not scored a battling win over Mahler Appeal
Trainer Doyle later said “he deserved that as he’s been running well all year. He’s slow but he’s tough and stays well. He was third in this race behind Ronald Pump four years ago but got an injury and missed some time.
“He’s shoving on in years but he still tries hard and never lets us down.
“A bigger field suits him as he likes to be passing horses. We’ll find something similar for him again.”
