Mydor landed a nice touch for connections when taking division two of the Ryans Cleaning Event Specialists Handicap Hurdle at Tipperary and, in the process, completed a successful day for trainer Tony Martin.
The Co. Meath handler was already on the mark here in the opener with Cillian’s Return, and was enjoying a treble on the day as Blair Perrone also struck for the yard in the bumper at Perth.
Mydor, owned by the ten-man Mulvany’s Bar Syndiacte from Dunboyne, was backed this morning from 12/1 down to 11/2 and further supported on track to go off the 4/1 favourite.
The French-bred was stepping up half a mile and appreciating the improved ground compared to his handicap debut over two miles at Fairyhouse in January.
Shane Shortall’s mount and Marshim were travelling by far the best entering the straight, and pair duly had the race between them from two out.
A mistake by the ‘jolly’ at the final flight appeared to hand the initiative to Marshim but Mydor rallied strongly to score by half a length.
The pair stretched seven lengths clear of Bonifacio in third, with Maximal Crazy in fourth.
