My Girl Anna and Rory Cleary were welcomed in by a lot of enthusiastic supporters after providing an upset in the Group 3 Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh.
The 10/1 shot, trained by Muredach Kelly in Ballinasloe Co Galway, saw off English raider Inxile a furlong out and then fended off fast finishing 9/4 favourite Fire Lily by a length and three parts.
It was a further three parts of a length back to Inxile in third at 10/3.
Joint owner Owen Murphy said: “That’s by far and away my biggest win. She’s the only horse I have. We have a lot of supporters here from Athlone and Roscommon.
“I’m a farrier by trade and I shoe Muredach’s horses. I’d like to thank Muredach.”
After the race the Stewards suspended Rory Cleary for two days for using his whip without giving his mount sufficient time to respond.
