There was a Mullins double at Sligo today but not from the usual suspects as trainer Tony Mullins supplied both his son Danny Mullins' winners, completed with Clarach s win in the Corner House Bar Ballymoate Mares Handicap Hurdle.
Ridden from off the pace, Mullins Jnr produced Clarach with her challenge at a very late stage and jumping the last, had plenty to do to win. Mullins kept his cool remarkably well to wait for a gap to open on the run-in and the daughter of Beneficial just needed a strong 'shove' to the line to record a three parts of a length win over Rising Time
Afterwards trainer Tony Mullins said “Clarach is a grand mare but I was worried about the ground for her.
“That's the second mares' hurdle she has won, she won one at Galway last year and we might have a try at the Galway Hurdle now. She'll probably go for a Flat race before then and we're all anxious to have a shot at the big one!”
