Galtee Mist defied her 6lb penalty in the Visit Kilkenny.ie Handicap at Gowran with a game performance under Gary Carroll.
The Joe Murphy-trained filly had won at Listowel on Saturday and showed no ill effects from that as she hit the mark again in today's seven-furlong contest.
The daughter of Gale Force Ten was soon in front but was restrained after a couple of furlongs as Punk Poet came to lead.
Carroll drove the 9/4 favourite into the lead again passing the two pole and she found plenty in the closing stages as Silver Service finished well to get within half a length at the line.
“She did it well,” said Murphy afterwards.
“She might go for the fillies handicap at the Curragh on Derby Day, she was third in it last year and then we'll try and get black-type.
“She's a very tough, genuine mare. She's in foal to Make Believe.”
