Mimosa repels all comers in opener
Blue Mimosa produced a game front-running performance to land the opening auction maiden at Sligo.
Sam James won the early battle for the lead on the even-money favourite but she was harried throughout.
There were plenty in with chances in the straight and it was Salacious Sally who finished best, pushing the Kevin Prendergast-trained winner hard to the line and only going down by a head.
The judge couldn't split Ok Annie and Beau Amadeus for third with the pair two-and-a-half lengths behind the front two.
Winning owner Norman Ormiston was on hand to welcome the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor himself, the first filly he has bred:-
"It's my first winner of the year so it's good to get kicked off eventually. The soft ground suited. We thought she was a miler though and she'll step back up in trip."
