McNiff at his best aboard Dooney Rock
The Keg Security Tralee Maiden Hurdle saw a thrilling finish with Dooney Rock and Luke McNiff just getting back up in the closing stages to score by head.
McNiff battled it out with 6/4 favourite Rivage D'Or and Davy Russell from the second last with the Luso gelding just getting the better of the favourite on the line.
Winning trainer Niall Moran, who was not present, owed a lot to Michael McElhone as he brought the horse to Killarney after Moran's box broke down en route to Killarney.
McNiff commented: "He's a nice staying type and if he gets his jumping together he'll be a right horse. He halved hurdles out there today."
