- McCarthy has to take a Second Glance
McCarthy has to take a Second Glance
Locally trained Second Glance proved a popular winner at Ballinrobe today, winning the John Monroe Haulage Handicap Hurdle for publican and trainer Michael Flannery.
Ridden by Ian McCarthy, the daughter of Lemon Drop Kid made all and stretched clear from two out to record an easy 12 lengths win over Knockieran
Afterwards Flannery said “Second Glance deserved that. I don’t know how many seconds she has had but the ground is the key (good to yielding) to her. Fair play to Charlie Swan (her previous trainer), he said to me that we’ll have great fun with that mare and how right he was!”
“Last week at Roscommon I had a first and a second in a race there – you could only dream about that! We’ll mix it (Flat & jump) with her and it’s great to win at Ballinrobe.”
