- Manieree steps up on her promising debut
Manieree steps up on her promising debut
John Oxx's Manieree (100/30) ploughed through the soft ground at Leopardstown to record a half length victory over Aidan O'Brien's Wonder Of Wonders a full sister to Galileo and half sister to Sea The Stars, in Leopardstown's opening fillies' maiden.
Wonder Of Wonders kept on well in the final furlong but couldnt quite get to Oxx's charge. She was a market drifter on course from 11/2 to 9/1.
Oxx was impressed with his filly who was partnered by Fran Berry. He said: "She is a nice filly. She ran very well first time out and got through the ground well.
"She should stay beyond a mile and I will start her off in a stakes race next year. The runner-up looks a decent horse so my one should do ok."
The 9/4 favourite, Asheerah from the Kevin Prendergast yard, was a further length and a quarter back in third.
