- Magee Off the Mark at Roscommon
Magee Off the Mark at Roscommon
The two bumpers over the couple of days at the last meeting here provided a pair jockeys with their first winners (Tony Kelly and Danni Quinlan) and tonight Roscommon again proved lucky for one Patrick Magee as he gained his initial win under Rules on Never A Secret
This daughter of Fruits Of Love ran a promising race to be third on her debut over the course and distance four weeks back and that experience certainly thought her plenty as she beat the well-backed favourite, Exchange Rate by half a length in the Tonlagee Flat Race.
Magee (22) from Cavan has three point-to-point wins under his belt and he rides this mare out at home for Hugh Paul Finegan. The four-year-old is the sole horse under the Nobber, Co. Meath trainer's care. He said, "I had a winner before with Santa's Girl at Sligo and we always thought this one was a serious mare. She could run on the flat and maybe go hurdling next year." (EM)
