The Last Chance To WINABMW.ie Mares’ Maiden Hurdle went to the front-running Carrigeen Lotus (5/2).
The Dick Lalor-trained daughter of Jeremy was joined two out by Tucanae (2/1 jt fav) and the pair had a good tussle up the hill with just a neck between them at the line.
The other 2/1 joint favourite Dreamingandhoping was back in third having run keenly for a long way.
The winner had made all to win a bumper at Cork in January before finishing third in a Grade 2 mares’ bumper at the Dublin Racing Festival.
Her dam is a half-sister to the high class Minella Indo who is due to return to action at Wexford tomorrow.
“To be honest we weren’t really sure coming here if she was fully ready or not,” reported the winning rider Liz Lalor.
“She hadn’t been on the grass to work but she’s a right one and if they were all like her we’d be okay."
