Justmemyselfandi rallied gamely in the closing stages to grab victory in the three-mile conditions chase at Sligo this afternoon.
The Liz Doyle-trained gelding had made the running under Adam Short but looked booked for second turning for home when headed by 5/4 favourite Major Destination
That rival drifted left under pressure on the run-in, however, giving Justmemyselfandi the opportunity to get his head back in front close home for a half length success.
The 11/2 winner had unseated on his most recent outing at Listowel.
Short said afterwards:- “I thought after a circuit that he’d gone asleep on me so I just gave him a little wake up.
“He just got lonely in front and when the other horse passed me he picked up again and I thought I should have pressed on sooner.
“In fairness he jumped the last really well and put his head down. When I needed him he dug deep.
“He’d first time blinkers and usually when you see one of Liz’s in first time blinkers they work. I hope there is plenty of improvement in him.”
