Mikey Fogarty completed a 44/1 double on the afternoon as Isleofhopendreams made a pleasing start over fences in the I N H Stallion Owners EBF Beginners Chase at Cork.
The lightly-raced nine-year-old had only run twice since taking a handicap hurdle at Thurles in early 2014 but showed no ill effects in this 2m5f event.
The son of Flemensfirth was backed on track from 7/1 into 4/1 favourite, and asserted approaching the last for a convincing victory.
The Willie Mullins-trained gelding had five and a half lengths to spare over Annamatopoeia at the line, with Curragh Na Gold another seven lengths adrift in third.
Fogarty said, “He was well in there and Willie said to get him jumping, get into a rhythm and see what happens. He did it well and it’s nice to ride another winner.”
