Division two of the HOLLYWOODBETS HORSE RACING AND SPORTS BETTING Handicap at Dundalk went to Silk Cravat from the in-form John Geoghegan yard.
Paddy Harnett did the steering and the Kyllachy gelding put a fourth Dundalk win on the board to add to a Laytown success gained back in 2017.
Hot-on-the-heels of all the recent successes gained by stable companion Chateau Musar, here 9/1 shot Silk Cravat raced in mid-division, and ridden he made progress on the outer two furlongs out.
He pressed the leader a furlong out, leading in the final hundred yards and keeping on well to beat ‘finishers’ Darkest Hour and Crystal Pool by three parts of a length and half a length.
Said Geoghegan: “He used to be a very pacey horse when Ger (Lyons) had him. He won over six for me but all he’s doing now is staying. He’s getting on in years like us all and getting a bit stiff!
“He’s more relaxed now than he ever was and I was saying if he didn’t win tonight he was going up to a mile and a quarter. He’s genuine and he still likes it.
“We’ll keep him going as long as he’s enjoying it. I'm delighted for Brian (owner and brother).
“He always runs well and it’s great to get another one out of him.”
