- Hughes duo Aintree bound
Hughes duo Aintree bound
Trainer Dessie Hughes recorded a 1-2 in the Grade 2 At The Races Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse today, setting up Aintree Grand National dates for winner Vic Venturi and runner-up Black Apalachi
Vic Venturi, under Paddy Flood, eventually ran out the eight lengths winner over his stablemate Black Apalachi, who emerged with plenty of credit, competing in his first chase since last year's Aintree showpiece.
Afterwards a delighted Hughes revealed “I was delighted with both horses' Grand National weights when they were published recently and today was a fantastic result - we now have two Aintree contenders!”
He added “Vic Venturi was 110% fit today and while he obviously ran a cracker to win, Black Apalachi comes out of the race with equal credit, having his just second run back. Both go to Aintree with every chance but no riding arrangements have been made yet.”
