Crockford (4/7) got out under the gates and ran loose prior to the Valentine's Weekend Special At Dundalk Stadium Maiden and had to be withdrawn. The mile event eventually went the way of Isosceles (9/1) for Michael Halford and Ross Coakley.
There was a 60 Cent Rule 4 to all bets but connections and backers of Isosceles will have been well pleased with the way he battled off Oneiroi and Cerberus by a neck and a short-head. Very Excellent was just a neck back in fourth.
“I'm very happy with him. He had a bad draw first time up here, things didn't go well and he was very green,” said Halford.
“It's nine weeks since we ran so we gave him a chance to strengthen up and come forward and he's come forward nicely.
“I'd expect he'll improve. He loves that surface, he's lazy at home and is the type you'd like.
“He has a good attitude but he just goes through the motions at home and it's hard to get a line on him.
“A mile is good for him at the minute and I think there will be more to come from him. Physically there is plenty more improvement in him.
“We'll see what the handicapper does. We'll take small steps and go from there.”
The Stewards informed Joseph Patrick O'Brien, trainer that Crockford, would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.
