Bottom-weight Guinevere brushed the minor drawback of being 2lbs out of the handicap to one side at Dundalk today as the Ray Cody trained, Ballygallon Stud owned filly landed the Bet On The Best Night Out Handicap under jockey Conor Hoban.
The daughter of Camelot had previously failed to win in 11 starts but today, under just 8st4lbs, scored a length success over Miss Snossyboots
Trainer Cody later reported “she always promised to do that. Her last run was a very good run as she had no luck in running and got too far back.
“I fancied her tonight off a low weight. She has loads of ability but things have to drop right for her.
“Now that she has got her head in front she might win again. She will probably come back here in three weeks for a rated race over a mile and a half.
“Down the line she will go back over hurdles.”
