Grand gets it right 12 months on
Grand Lahou certainly looked the part for the Kent Bros Beginners Chase on his first run since last April and the chestnut son of Cyborg went two places better than he did in this event in 2009 when he made all to beat Echo Bob by three parts of a length.
The latter, a Henry de Bromhead-trained joint favourite, was never quite going to get to the winner from the back of the last despite staying on steadily.
Davy Russell rode the winner for the absent Arthur Moore and he said: "He came with a huge reputation (won a point-to-point for Liam Burke) and he is a big horse that jumps well. He had plenty done at home and he was ready for today."
Grand Lahou was third to no less than Beroni in this race twelve months previous.
Meanwhile Sean Flanagan took a fall from Betabob at the third last and he was stood down for the day. Oran Flyer turned out again after taking a heavy fall here yesterday and ran respectably to finish fifth.
