The Boys Dont Know charged home in the closing stages to land the Templemore Mares Maiden Hurdle at Thurles and give trainer Arthur Goulding his first winner 'on the track'. Dubh Go Leir made a bold bid from the front in the two-mile contest but had to give way at the business end.
The front-runner had Josie S And B for company early but went clear five out. Her lead was reduced two out and she was tackled at the last.
10/3 favourite The Boys Dont Know soon hit the front and went on for a two-and-three-quarter length success under Bryan Cooper.
The winner had just lost out on her return to action in a handicap event at Limerick last month.
"That's my first winner and I took over the licence from my brother Philip, who passed away two-and-a-half years ago," said the 27-year-old handler who is based in Tallow, Co Waterford.
"I've had two point-to-point winners and had a lot of placed horses on the track. I have eight riding out at the minute but she's the only one for the racecourse.
"She's tough and has always shown a lot but she's had a few niggly problems. She'll go back handicapping now."
